CITY CENTER. The Dommuseum opened in 1987 in the cloisters of the beautiful Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. Exhibits provide insight into the cathedral's history and influence, and give visitors a rare glimpse of church treasures. Highlights include the grave of a 7th century Moravian girl, silver and gold altar utensils and vestments.

NORTH FRANKFURT. Money, money, money! The lengthy history of money and current trends in economics are the focus of this surprisingly engaging museum. A massive collection of coins and paper money from ancient times to the present is on display, and there are a wide range of interactive exhibits to keep bored kids interested. There are also some well-made films that help put money and economics into perspective.

CITY CENTER. This 18th century home of the famed German writer and philosopher has been accurately restored to its original state. Interesting and informative, the home has become a shrine for Goethe fans. View the home with its lovely art collection and original pieces of memorabilia. Save time for a trip to the Goethe Museum, which is located next door.

CITY CENTER. Founded in 1878, the Historisches Museum documents the last eight centuries of Frankfurt's history with its vast collection of artifacts and ephemera. In addition to photo, paintings and lithographs, exhibits include precious metalware and jewelry, pottery and porcelain. There are also displays designed specifically for children. Perhaps the most fascinating are the scale models of Frankfurt through history ­ you can see exactly what it looked like during medieval times, post-WWII, and at other notable times. The museum's restaurant serves traditional German favorites, including Apfelwein.

Exhibits present a well-rounded look at the lives, the culture and the history of the Jewish people. At times moving and touching, the museum is a testament to a people, and the memorabilia speaks volumes. Housed in the former mansion of the Rothschilds, the celebrated family's first home after leaving the Jewish ghetto.
